Dec 12 |Scott Devore of Drayer Physical Therapy Institute in Bellefonte has been selected as certified athletic trainer of the year by the Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Devore, who has been athletic trainer at Bald Eagle Area High School for 22 years, will accept the Henry Schein Award on Jan. 10 during EATA’s annual meeting and clinical symposium at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia.
The award each year recognizes an individual who makes an outstanding contribution to the profession at the secondary or prep school levels in a 10-state area. Devore, only the sixth recipient from Pennsylvania, will be recognized for his “outstanding dedication to the professional advancement of athletic training at the secondary school level and being a leader throughout your career,” according to EATA.
During his time at Bald Eagle, the high school has captured six state athletic titles: two each in softball and wrestling and one each in baseball and track.
A Pittsburgh native, Devore earned a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine from Mercyhurst College and a master’s degree in athletic training from Western Michigan University.
Drayer’s Bellefonte center is at 1680 Zion Road. Tasha Norman is the center’s area manager.
