Physical Therapy for Foot Pain

Foot pain is a common problem faced by individuals and be the result of a variety of different problems. In addition to being common, foot pain can be debilitating as it can limit an individual’s ability to walk or perform daily activities.

 

Common Causes of Foot Pain

 

Symptoms of foot injuries may include:

  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Numbness and tingling in the foot
  • Difficulty walking
  • Stiffness
  • Poor balance

How We Treat

Physical therapy can be very effective to help improve strength, flexibility, balance, and gait as well as to reduce pain levels. A physical therapist will complete a comprehensive evaluation aimed at determining the underlying cause of your foot pain and will create a customized program to address your needs. This examination may include screening the entire lower quarter as often these can be contributing to your foot pain. Services for foot pain may include:

  • Modalities (heat, ice, ultrasound, iontophoresis, electrical stimulation)
